What is an independent RN Patient Advocate?
An independent RN Patient Advocate, also referred to as a Medical Guidance Advocate, assists individuals and their families in navigating the healthcare system and is separate from any hospital, healthcare system, or provider. Independent RN Patient Advocates bring a deeper understanding of complex medical situations due to their advanced education and extensive clinical experience, setting them apart from other types of advocates or navigators.
Making a Case for Patient Advocacy:
Why Hire an independent RN Patient Advocate?
Clinical Expertise Matters
While each of the different roles in the article have their benefits, an Independent RN Patient Advocate encompasses them all with the added advantage of real life clinical expertise that only comes from years of bedside nursing and continuous education. Having an excellent understanding of the human body in relation to complex medical issues is key in every aspect of the clients life - including wellbeing, quality of life, facilitating informed decision making, ability to properly advocate, medical billing, and insurance coverage. Independent RN Patient Advocates are in the unique position to provide the "100 ft view" to pull all of the pieces together to get the client what they need and want.
